Graphic Detail #1 - Bob Moore's 1994 Chesterfield Yamaha

I've decided I'm going to start some regular features that will return from time to time. Graphic Detail (see what I did there?) is going to be me just basically taking a look the aesthetics of a bikes graphics. After all I was a designer for one of the big custom decal companies here in the UK for four years before I left because the manager was a dick! Serious douche lord! Any guesses?

I digress, this is one of my favourite looking bikes of all time, this was back when black bikes were cool. Ok they were never that cool but these Chesterfield Yams were the tits! Seriously, I would do this bike! I love the kind of simplistic look and these decals have enough going on to make them jazzy as fuck with out going over the top. The yellow and red/orange work so well with the black and the lighting bolt that finishes on the seat makes me want to finish on the seat. (Jizz) The number backgrounds are so epically simple that they'd have to go to special classes at school but they fit the look completely. Bob Moore, you were the man in '94, apart from that race where you left the choke on, that was lame, but at least you looked pimp doin it!

Reed Ain't Got Shit On This Dude!

Well, well, well. Just when you thought no one could go bigger than Chad Reed at Millville last year when he tried to put a block pass on the Hubble telescope, this guy comes out of........somewhere foriegn (I can say that because I'm British!) with this pant wetter. However this guy has watched Chad land on the downside of a hill and gone, "I can top that!". So he finds the worst kicker he can, does a body varial mid flight and then lands square on his bike/kidneys!!! What a champ. I'm pretty sure as he fights to get the air back in his lungs and scope which girls are about to go home and rub themselves over thoughts him, you can hear him wheeze "Fuck you Reedy, Fuck you."

Fucking Foreigners (It's an Ironic title you Nazi!)

The Maxxis (no energy drink up in here)ACU British Motocross Championship kicks off next weekend at Fat Cat Moto ParK, that's right I used K as in UK not C as in FranCe because that's not where we live! Anyone who disagrees with me on this gets the usual swift kick in the muff! Anyway I'm going to be realistic when I say "I don't think we're going to have a British British champion this year." I'm sure there's people who will argue with me that our boys are goin' to stick it to the Swiss, Latvians, American/Pueto Ricans (snack pack I mean you) but hey this is my blog. Tonus or Osborne are blatantly going to run away with the MX2 class, just like last year. I mean did you see how much Zach has been killing it in the US? Then Tonus went balls out at Hawkstone last week, dude be scrubbin' like a mofo. Two words. Makin' Moves. We don't even have good ole' Jakey Nicholls to stick it to them this year as he's off in the Netherlands or Holland one of those places.* And with Defending MX1 champ Brad Anderson moving down under the MX1 title is probably going to fall right into the hands of Belgian, Kevin Strijbos. I just hope Kristian Whatley can bust out some of the speed he was showing last year. He could definitely be in the mix for a Solidude shout out next week.  I leave it at that for now, I've got to go kiss your mum good night.

* I know stupid!

Scootercross For X Games!

I tweeted this a few days ago after flicking through a motocross book called Motocross Time, catchy title ain't it?! Its from the mid nineties so I feel I can forgive it slightly. I just thought it warranted a blog article because it looks ridonkulous! It's an event in Italy called the Malossi Scootercross. There's some good videos on YouTube to check out, the Italians love it more than greasy black perms and cappucinos.

Now that supercross is no longer in the X Games, and rightly so (if the X isn't the top step of a sport then it shouldn't be in there), there is room for scootercross. I'm pretty sure Stewart, McGrath, even Pastrana would sign up, I mean, they all got involved with the fad of Supermoto aka the motocross retirement home. Plus check these pictures of MC, Steve Lamson and former world champ Alex Puzar they all seem sold. Boom!

#34 Cole Seely - Solidude! (that's solid and dude put together! you heard!)

Couldn't watch Atlanta live as we do not receive Speed channel here in England and any live stream seemed to harder to find than a small British girl in the Algarve. So I caught up with the main events on YouTube and I have to say Cole Seely was the f'n man!

I said in my original post, I'm a Honda guy through and through, I just love the red machines, and Cole Seely has been my pick for the west coast lites title this year after he came out swinging at Anaheim 1 (I know, i know, great retrospective there). I also shed a single tear when he went down at A2 whilst leading and I was in the stands. When I heard the #34 was goin to be throwing the 450 around Coke country I was pumped, and you can imagine how much of a semi I was nursing when he holeshot the main.* When laps 2 and 3 passed and Cole was still holding his own against Ryan Dungey, I wasn't sure that my under pant elastic was going to hold.
Dude rode good, holding off Dungey for 7 laps before fading to a 6th place finish in his first ride aboard the factory bike. Seely also showed great maturity by not trying to mess up the race for championship contenders whilst battling with them. So how's he goin to fare in the next few races, well I think we'll see a stronger Cole Seely for all 20 laps at the next couple of rounds and I see him drinking a muscle milk on the podium before he drops a couple hundred cc's at Seattle in 7 weeks. That just happened my friend, That. Just. Happened.

*If anyone finds this part a bit gay, then ask your mum how gay I am. ;) ok, the winky face was slightly gay.

Get your ride on!

Welcome to the ramblings of a mad man, I will be dropping knowledge like its snow in december on everything moto or super related. I have my biases and I'm goin' to stick to them, you can't stop me, you're not my real dad! So if you're a fan of Honda's and a majority of thier riders, Villopoto, The Pulp Mx show, the #94, Qualcomm and Angel Stadiums, Bret Michaels (kidding), 90's motocross, David Pingree, Blake Wharton's goon style, and the fact that Alessi hasn't won a pro title, then this could make some interesting reading for you. If not then read it anyway you can point out the spelling and grammar mistakes, and there should be plenty of them, I went to art school.

Peach! (thats right, i'm bringing it back.)
