Best Of Lyng #3 - Carl Nunn: East Coast Represent

Nunny lookin' fresh as!

Carl Nunn is an absolute leg end! Possibly the best rider this little inbred side of the country has produced. In 1998 Nunny was riding for the Cadbury's boost/Tim Brinton cars Yamaha team and was beginning to really show what a bad ass he is. Lyng held the final round of the British championship that year and the title was being contended by James Dobb, Paul Malin and Dane Brian Jorgenson. Nunn put a proverbial middle finger up to all three by going fastest in timed practice by almost three seconds! WTF?! That's why the guy makes chicks slicker than the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. He then came out and dominated both races in the 125 class and then backed it up with a Top 10 finish in the Honda cup race, which pitted both the 125's and open class against each other, to take home his first ever British Championship overall just because he could. Dobb took home the title with two seconds whilst Malin crashed out and took a trip to hospital.

This is one of those videos made for kids TV, sorry but it's the best I could find about that day, and I'm pretty sure like me you'll be saying "get bent" to the blurry footage of the riders at the start of it. That shit wasn't even cool in 1998 you television production fucks! It features Carl, plus the MJ Chruch Kawasaki Team of Swordy, Tom Church and Mark Hucklebridge. As Nunn says in the video, his girlfriend was killed in a car accident at the start of year so was unsure if he would be riding and that's what makes this win even more amazing. I remember seeing Stuart Nunn (Carls Dad and 1970's and 80's motocross baller) at the end of the day and he told me that he had said to Carl earlier in the year that if he won a British overall he could shave his head. Stuart was then on the way to keep up his side of the deal like a boss!

Malin probably thinks he has the title right here. Gutted son!
