Lyng has been and gone and what a day it was. There were rumblings on Twitter during the week that it might be cancelled. Are you fucking kidding me?! The track was in possibly the best condition I've ever seen it, got proppa(.com) rough late in the day though. Unfortunately, 3G reception at Lyng is more none existent than the Easter Bunny, Ghosts and GOOD women drivers (pipe down toots), so I could not tweet the days events as planned. Here's the wrap up:
MX2
- EBB is loving the home track status. 2 race wins and would have swept the day if it wasn't for a crash in moto 2 (still finished 5th in that one) Fast as balls yo!
- Pocock is more persistent than a sex pest and takes home the overall and keeps hold of the red hair/plate.
- Aubin has a bad day. He hates motocross!
- The rest of the Buildbase boys, Booker and Houghton, are putting it up in the top 10 all day. However their manager/trainer is Dave Thorpe. Expect an whooping this week boys. Top 3 only!
- Graeme Irwin is impressive, Solid(ude) rides, gnarly scrubs and a big crash all on the way to 3rd Overall. Getting it done for Samsung.
- Bry Mac looses his goggles on lap two of the 2nd moto. Still brings it home in 4th. Not scared.
- Bradshaw is typically hustling like a player, his balls out pass on Mackenzie down Cadders Hill is one of the highlights of the day.
- On the other scale of things Connor Walkley's crash in race 3 is possibly the lamest point of the day. 3mph tip over and then trying to remount side saddle and almost getting ploughed by a passing rider. Not cool dude.
- That 3DD is back, Lenoir doesn't quite have the pace of the leaders but good starts and a 'no surrender' attitude (strange for a french guy) gives him 3 top 5 finishes.
Race 1 - 1.Banks-Browne 2.Irwin 3.Pocock
Race 2 - 1.Pocock 2.Irwin 3.MacKenzie
Race 3 - 1.Banks-Browne 2.Pocock 3.Lenoir
Overall - 1.Pocock 2.Banks-Browne 3.Irwin
MX1
- Strijbos re-earns the Strij-like-a-bos title with three wins from three. I couldn't see the whole track but I'm pretty sure he didn't make a single mistake. Smooth as fuck!
- Simpson just can't edge Strijbos all day and is not happy with 4th in the last race. Actually let me rephrase that; Pissed as a motherfucker!
- I thought Mark The Hoover (I'm sure that's what the commentator called him) would be better, just sayin. Dutchies love the sand.
- Sword is consistant until a Mechanical forces him out of the final race on the penultimate lap. He's not as pissed as Simpson.
- Carl Nunn, obviously inspired by my feature on him in the Best Of Lyng #3, brings out the KTM for a Cadders Hill sesh. 10th overall. Stll got it......never went away.
- Whatley has a shocker. Larocco starts and a DNF in the 3rd moto. Gutted son.
- Karro was quiet (but still fast), his fans were not.
- Special mention for Alfie Smith. Your gear is rank!
- Special mention for Christy Harnett. Your graphics are even worse! (Graphic Detail coming soon)
Race 1 - 1.Strijbos 2.Simpson 3.Sword
Race 2 - 1.Strijbos 2.Simpson 3.De Reuver
Race 3 - 1.Strijbos 2.Karro 3.De Reuver
Overall - 1.Strijbos 2.Simpson 3.Karro
Done and done!
Done and done!
