In the MX2 Stephen Sword was fuckin' dominant that day, dude was nursing an injured hand and still managed to take everyone to school like he was Mr. Cooper, although no one was hanging with him. Fastest in qualifying, two holeshots, two wins. Now that's the kind of score card that opens anyone's legs. His KTM team mate and local hero, Jake Nicholls, finished 2nd to him at Lyng and gave the local crowd one big East Anglian boner. Nice work Jakey. This was to be Swordy's last year in the MX2 class and he took it all the way to his 4th British title, he even clinched it at the penultimate stop of the tour and then went out in the 450 class at the final round and smoked it like some Bavarian cheddar. Although I feel bad for the guy for having to hold up that Red plate on the podium. That thing looks like a pile of wank, seriously!
MX1 was also won by the guy who would go on to become the champ that year, none other than Brad Anderson. I like Ando, dude is gritty as fuck and he always finds some unique lines on the track. He pulled off (haha I said pulled off) a good couple of rides this day to take home the overall. He traded moto wins with Swanaepol but a better second race result made sure the #60 put the South African in his place (2nd). Anderson always rides balls to the wall and it often shows, just watch that back end skip around. Ando is not scared. Unlike Sword, Brad had never won a British Championship at this point, however this win at Lyng helped him edge closer to his first, which he took home at the end of the year all boss like. Yey-ah!
Anderson uses the tyres as a berm, why not? |
